A Graduation Dinner at the Lighthouse

For my brothers graduation from high school, my family and I had dinner at the Lighthouse in Port Orchard
website here.

The first thing I noticed when I entered was that there was no one at the front desk, we had to wonder around for a few minutes before someone noticed us and showed us to a table.
Not a huge problem just somwhat strange.

The waitress was pleasant and the food was brought out in a timely fashion.

I ordered the New York Steak topped with mushroom ragout, served with blue cheese mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetable (in my case squash).

The presentation was nice and the portion looked good, my only complaint being the excess meat juice running all over the plate.

When cut the steak showed a perfectly cooked med-rare as ordered, warm through but still very pink in the center with a nice char.
The steak was delicious, with great beefy flavor and more tender than I would expect from a New York steak.  The ragout was creamy and paired well with the steak, but when the blue cheese in the mashed potatoes was added to that, it was almost to much.
I think that it should ether have blue cheese involved or the ragout, because with both the richness was overpowering.  Also the squash was pleasantly Al-dente, with a nice little bit of char.

Overall an agreeable dinner, but at $23 a bit expensive for my tastes.  However, I will return if given cause to celebrate again.
